"Mother's Day"
May 10-11, 2008

From the Pen of Pastor Steve

A story is told of four men arguing over the best translation of the Bible. The first man liked the King James Version because of the beautiful, eloquent English. Another insisted that the New American Standard Bible was best because of its accuracy to the original text. A third man preferred Moffatt for its quaint, penetrating words and captivating phrases. After pondering the issue, the fourth man said, “Personally, I have always preferred my mother’s translation.” Tolerating the others’ laughs, he responded, “Yes, she translated it. She translated each page of the Bible into life. It is the most convincing translation I ever saw.”

Whether you are a biological mother, adoptive mother, foster mother or mentoring mother--your life counts. Raising children today can be REALLY TOUGH. Our children don’t always do things just the way we desire. As parents, above all else, the best we can offer our children is a life of consistent reliance upon God’s Word. Ladies, we honor you and the important role you play in society and home.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Senior Pastor

Prayer Gathering

Maybe the most important spiritual practice we can participate in is prayer – individually and as a church. New Life recognizes this and is going to be praying for our country, government leaders and the military on Tuesday, May 20th, as part of our Prayer Gathering. We will be meeting in the Prayer Center at 7:00pm and encourage everyone to come. No one will be put on the spot and asked to pray aloud and you can participate to whatever degree you feel comfortable. This Prayer Gathering is focused on the National Day of Prayer celebrated in May.

What’s Your Move?

Last week Scott asked the question “what’s your move.” If you have made that step to “move,” we would love to hear about it. Send your story to mymove@nlcc.org!

Shalom Update

Shalom Child Development Center was established by New Life in August of 2003 with 20 children. We now have the privilege of receiving 32 new children bringing the total to 140. Each child is sponsored individually and receives loving physical and spiritual care. If you are interested in becoming a part of this life changing ministry please contact Susan Sellers at 602-942-7532 or suz24@cox.net. The cost is $40 per month which provides food, shelter, clothing, school books and basic medical care. We have pictures of the children and further information available at the Mission's Table outside the worship center.
